Job Requirements
Requirements for this position:
Broadcast Journalism Experience: Proven experience as a television reporter and/or anchor, with strong on-camera presence, clear delivery, and the ability to communicate complex stories in an engaging and concise manner.
Digital & Social Media Fluency: Strong understanding of how news content is consumed on platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, and Meta Ads Manager, including differences in tone, format, and audience expectations.
Content Adaptation Skills: Ability to translate traditional broadcast stories into compelling digital-first formats, including short-form video, vertical video, and platform-specific storytelling techniques.
Video Editing & Production Skills: Hands-on experience with video editing tools (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar), including adding captions, graphics, and optimizing content for mobile viewing.
Ability to Learn & Adapt Quickly: Demonstrated ability to embrace new technologies, formats, and workflows, with a willingness to experiment and evolve alongside rapidly changing social media platforms.
Strong News Judgment & Editorial Integrity: Solid understanding of journalism ethics, accuracy standards, and editorial decision-making in a fast-paced news environment.
Audience Engagement Mindset: Ability to create content that drives engagement, including understanding hooks, pacing, headlines, and storytelling techniques that resonate with digital audiences.
Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with newsroom, production, and digital teams.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds as part of job requirements.
Valid Ontario driver’s licence required.
