Job Description
Job Description:
As Video Editor, you’ll play a vital part in shaping the stories produced by Muster Point Productions. You’ll assume a key role in every stage of the edit; from advising on pitches to shaping rough assemblies; from crafting narrative to delivering files. You’ll use your talents as a longform storyteller to create compelling and impactful narratives for documentaries, scripted television and film, and various digital genres.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with directors, producers, and other creatives to understand each project’s requirements and metrics for success.
  • Implement a wide variety of editing techniques and styles to achieve compelling stories.
  • Ensure smooth 4K workflow management within an AVID ecosystem, including overseeing project setup; managing media (keeping footage archive systems); and maintaining edit and storage equipment and services.
  • Produce design elements as needed, including on-screen text, graphics, and animations.
  • Colour grade and enhance the visual look of each project.
  • Perform audio mixes and edits to achieve a high standard of audio production.
  • Participate in creative discussions both inside and outside of postproduction; play an active role in contributing ideas and feedback for pitches and development.
  • Attend shoots periodically and be available to help on set and provide guidance based on edit decisions.
  • Manage your time and team effectively while communicating with producers and executives to optimize the postproduction schedule.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, tools, and software to continuously upgrade your professional knowledge and skills.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as an Avid Video Editor with a very strong portfolio showcasing a wide range of content and a consistent talent for telling stories with impact, including long-form documentary.
  • Proficiency in managing 4K Avid workflows, including audio mixing and colour grading.
  • Strong understanding of visual and auditory storytelling and communication, including a keen sense of pacing a rhythm.
  • A sharp eye and attention to detail; a high standard for producing clean, well-designed visual materials.
  • Ability to work under tight timelines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Motivation to work with a positive attitude, a willingness to try new ways of doing things, and a commitment to collaboration.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, software, and equipment.
