Hours of Operation: 3:00pm – 11:00pm EST

*Pay Range: $23.00 - $27.00 CAD hourly

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Editor (Picture Finishing) will be responsible for filling a variety of supporting roles to the colourist/editor. They will be responsible for assisting in the completion of Episodic and Feature projects from ingest to delivery. Primarily, they will learn new processes and maintain proficiency with evolving technical applications and trends with the company workflow in mind. In this position they actively provide support and solutions for the colour and editorial teams. 

MAIN DUTIES:
  • Colour Support: Help support, colour and display systems that enable colourists to perform efficiently and productively during sessions. This may include but is not limited to, colour tracing, vfx inserts, lut application and similar tasks. Knowledgeable of the various flavors of colour spaces (P3DCI, P3D65, XYZ …)  
  • Support Editors: Help support finishing editors so they may perform efficiently and productively during and before sessions. This may include but is not limited to, locating and consolidating media, renders, including master deliverables, and qc fixes. 
  • Teamwork: Collaborate and communicate with fellow colleagues to obtain job instructions and solutions to meet project deadlines. Document workflows and help train incoming new hires.   
  • Resource Support: Operating DaVinici Resolve or similar applications, Sony X300, Barco 4K/2K, and video routers.  
  • Quality Assurance: Detail oriented with application and equipment settings. Thoroughly check all work for errors before content is distributed downstream.    
  • New Technology Support: Help support new processes and maintain proficiency with evolving technical applications and trends with the company workflow. 
  • Quality Control: Maintain outstanding levels of oversight of deliverables manufactured within the finishing process. 
  • Customer Service: Drive client supervised sessions; screenings, visual effects reviews and colour-correction sessions / editorial reviews as directed by colourist/editor and/or production management. 
 
Job Requirements
WHAT YOU BRING:
The ideal candidate will have prior working experience in the media/post-production industry, as well as prior hands-on operator experience. They must have excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as an exceptional eye for detail, with strong problem-solving skills, good communication and interpersonal skills, and a great team player. Additional desired skills include:
Working knowledge of Davinci Resolve
Prior experience in finishing
A professional level English language skill, i.e. written and verbal.
Have a solid knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
Other System knowledge is a plus: Adobe Premiere, OSD/Transkoder, and Avid.
Have the capacity and interest to learn new material as needed in fast-paced and technical professional environment.
Ability to work overtime with little or no notice.
Ability to work on weekends, as necessary.
Ability to work variable shifts, as necessary.
