Diversification of OPS Senior Leadership

Ontario is home to an increasingly diverse population and public service. The Ontario Public Service (OPS) is committed to an accessible, equitable and respectful workplace that is representative of the people we serve. Representation within senior leadership in the OPS has not kept pace with evolving demographics of Ontario. Diversifying the leadership team is a top priority for the OPS, with the goal of reaching parity between our leadership teams and the Ontario Labour Force by 2025.

We invite you to help us advance the goals of the OPS Inclusion and Diversity Blueprint by completing this  Voluntary Survey.

The Keys to Leadership in the OPS

The OPS defines what it means to be a leader by the following expected attributes and behavioral competencies:
• You commit to the responsibilities of being a leader by demonstrating authenticity, accountability and courage
• You lead for the future by embracing positive disruption, maintaining a future mindset and by supporting staff development
• You are people centered: you lead your team with a common purpose, are inclusive and drive people-centered outcomes by collaborating across boundaries and hierarchies, building effective networks and partnerships, and incorporating diverse perspectives

OPS Commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Anti-Racism:

We are committed to build a workforce that reflects the communities we serve and to promote a diverse, anti-racist, inclusive, accessible, merit-based, respectful and equitable workplace.

We invite all interested individuals to apply and encourage applications from people with disabilities, Indigenous, Black, and racialized individuals, as well as people from a diversity of ethnic and cultural origins, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions.

Visit the OPS Anti-Racism Policy and the OPS Diversity and Inclusion Blueprint pages to learn more about the OPS commitment to advance racial equity, accessibility, diversity, and inclusion in the public service.

We offer employment accommodation across the recruitment process and all aspects of employment consistent with the requirements of Ontario's Human Rights Code. Refer to the "How to apply" section if you require a disability-related accommodation.

The Ontario Public Service (OPS) is one of Ontario's largest employers and is the non-partisan arm of the Government of Ontario. In 2019, the OPS set a goal to achieve parity with the Ontario labour force by 2025 for the most underrepresented groups in OPS senior leadership, including people with disabilities. We seek to develop an inclusive workplace by recruiting, developing, and advancing people of all abilities and promote an environment where everyone has access to workplace resources and accommodations to reach their fullest potential.

As one of Ontario's largest employers, the OPS believes in and celebrates diversity in talent and is dedicated towards recruitment for persons with lived and living experience of disabilities. The Ontario Public Service is an inclusive and equity employer and will provide accommodations under the Human Rights Code.
