CFO / Controller

If you are a cat person with a strategic financial mindset, strong leadership skills, and a genuine desire to enhance our operational and financial efficiency, we invite you to join our team as the Chief Financial and Control Officer (CFCO).

Job Description:

As the CFCO, you will be the driving force behind our financial strategy and operations, combining the roles of CFO and Controller. You will lead our financial department, overseeing both strategic financial planning and day-to-day accounting operations. Your role will encompass financial management, strategic planning, risk management, and ensuring compliance with accounting and financial regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Financial Leadership: Develop and execute the financial strategy of the company, aligning it with the company's overall goals and objectives.

  • Financial Operations Management: Oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with tax laws and regulations.
  •  
  • Cash Flow and Inventory Management: Spearhead strategies for optimizing cash flow, focusing on inventory turnover and efficiency, and streamlining purchase order processes to align with financial goals.
  •  
  • Contract Negotiations and Cost Reduction: Lead negotiations with suppliers, partners, and service providers to secure favorable terms, reduce costs, and enhance value. Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives across the company.

  • Government Grants and Loan Applications: Identify opportunities for government grants and loans, leading the application process to secure funding and financial support for the company.
  •  
  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Conduct thorough financial analysis to guide strategic decisions, manage budgets, and forecast financial trends.
  •  
  • Risk Management: Identify financial risks and opportunities, implementing strategies to protect the company's assets and financial health.
  •  
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all financial practices adhere to regulatory standards and laws, managing audits and preparing accurate tax filings.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as Operations, Product, and Marketing to support financial aspects of projects and initiatives.

  • KPI Management: Establish and monitor financial performance indicators, making data-driven decisions to enhance financial stability and growth.

Requirements:

  • Strategic Financial Mindset: Demonstrated passion for financial strategy, planning, and efficiency.
  •  
  • Leadership Experience: Proven experience in leading and managing finance teams, with a focus on strategic financial management and operational excellence.
  •  
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information effectively.
  •  
  • Analytical Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with an ability to address financial challenges and find innovative solutions.
  •  
  • Financial Systems Familiarity: Proficiency in financial management software and systems is essential.
  •  
  • Experience: At least 5-7 years of relevant work experience in finance, with a strong background in both strategic and operational financial roles.
  •  
  • Certifications: CPA, CMA, or other relevant financial certifications are highly desirable.
  •  
  • Location: Based in Vancouver (or Canada) while aligning with the company's hours of operation.
