Job Description

The Web & Content Specialist will report to the eCommerce Product Manager and will be responsible for developing, maintaining, deploying, and reviewing online & digital content for Pet Valu Digital properties, including the websites and email program, in an efficient manner that will enable a 360 and customer-centric digital experience.

The Web & Content Specialist will work collaboratively with various internal stakeholders, including the Integrated Marketing team, Designers, and Copywriter to receive a brief and digital assets, and execute their deployment on our digital properties. 

The Web & Content Specialist will be expected to ensure seamless deployment of online and digital content, meeting deployment timelines and achieving improvement of online engagement metrics by implementation of digital best practices. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Update, maintain and revise existing online content
  • Create new web pages from marketing and UX/UI design specs and requirements
  • Build promotional content and deploy using content management platforms and tools
  • Perform quality assurance before deploying to production environment
  • Optimize content for accessibility and speed
  • Write high quality HTML and CSS that is easy to reuse and maintain
  • Support any content related UX project
  • Keep up to date with industry best practices and monitor competitor websites
  • Perform testing in pre-prod and prod environments to ensure accuracy of finished product
  • Support the eCommerce business teams by creating and executing simple to complex A/B tests
  • At all times, attention-to-detail and overall quality control is critical
  • Must have the ability to prioritize competing projects and adhere to tight deadlines
  • Liaise between cross functional teams to ensure project deadlines and expectations are met
  • Build new and optimize existing content publication processes
  • Prioritize the safety of fellow team members by maintaining a safe and clean work environment
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member with internal and external client groups, understand and follow management directives, and work effectively in a 360 environment when required
  • Be highly responsive to internal and external questions pertinent to projects
  • Manage and mitigate day to day problems, ensuring strong and effective communication in difficult and time sensitive situations

Job Requirements
Skills, Experience, Education, Certifications

Post-secondary degree in a related field (i.e., Diploma in Computer Science with focus on Web Development) or equivalent experience
2+ years of direct work experience in an online production/development role
Preference given to those who have an online portfolio showcasing experience and examples of HTML, HTML5, Javascript, jQuery, CSS and responsive design
Experience and knowledge of Content Management Systems (CMS) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
A solid understanding of cross-platform and responsive web design
Proficient knowledge of web standards
Knowledge of browser debugging tools (Dev Tools, Firebug)
Up to date on the latest web trends and willing to share and communicate learning’s across multiple departments
Must be pro-active and able to work under pressure in a dynamic fast paced environment
Self-starter approach to work, with an eagerness to consistently meet and exceed objectives
Highly service-oriented with exceptional organizational and follow up skills
Ability to perform effectively in a multitasking environment and work well in an integrated team environment
Good understanding of web design, SEO and UX
Understanding of the entire web development process, including design, development, and deployment
Experience with responsive design
Experience in using project management tools such as Asana and JIRA.
Strong oral and written communication skills
