Job Description

Shopify’s mission is to make commerce better for everyone. To deliver on that promise, the content marketing team is helping our merchants make better decisions through the content we create.

Your part in that mission will be to understand the needs of our merchants and partners and to develop engaging product-focused video content that helps them see the value of working with Shopify. You’ll conceptualize and oversee the development of video and audio content for our product brand, Shopify Plus, across multiple channels like YouTube and social platforms. You’ll work with content marketers, social media managers, product leaders, account managers, and other producers across the organization to find creative ways that highlight our products to a global B2B audience.

Responsibilities:

Creating a product-focused video production pipeline: You will be responsible for executing and evolving our video marketing strategy through identifying gaps and opportunities for our Shopify Plus product offerings. By aligning stakeholders across Shopify Plus you will contribute to global projects in various geographies, from strategy to execution. You have deep knowledge of production, and understand the needs of videos that vary in style, format, and duration, while being able to anticipate and overcome roadblocks. You will also measure your work against KPIs and report on the impact of the work you do, and use those insights, and your knowledge of industry trends and best practices to optimize continued video content performance.

Helping merchants discover more of Shopify Plus: You will work closely with our content marketing, education, community and regional teams to create video content that educates and inspires potential and existing merchants to discover more on Shopify Plus. That means mixing B2B marketing and storytelling abilities to produce video content that tells a holistic story about our products to our audience, which contributes to an environment that helps build trust, empathy and credibility with merchants.

Nurturing creative excellence in video: You will help define how the Shopify Plus brand and tone of voice are represented online and in global video content. You will provide feedback and direction on video creative for freelancers, agencies and members of your team, and encourage an environment of nimbleness, experimentation, testing and learning. You’ll also work with other creative directors, designers and producers to build creative workflows and create best-in-class video content together.

Contributing to team learning and development: You’ll oversee video content feedback, support the creation and continued evolution of video creative guidelines, and help tell the story of the impact of video content across the organization. You will collaborate with external partners, as well as other producers, content marketers, designers, and product leaders across Shopify to increase video engagement, guide and fulfill our product video content strategy, and share key learnings that help make video marketing at Shopify better.


 
Job Requirements
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience creating video and audio content for a B2B audience, bonus if you have experience in the eCommerce or retail space.
Confident in owning the whole video process including research, scriptwriting, production, and distribution, whether working with internal or external resources.
Understands how to turn video and audio marketing tactics and trends, audience insights, content analysis, and creative ideas into strategic recommendations and content opportunities for various audiences.
Capable of contributing to creative brainstorming sessions and leading the production of new creative content ideas that are part of cross-functional initiatives.
The ability to solve unfamiliar complex business problems that extend beyond content and video marketing.
A talent for distilling complex ideas into plain language across short-form and long-form video content.
Deep understanding of video content and creative production best practices. Knows how to defend good ideas, without being defensive, and creates an environment that leads to good creative work.
Knows how to efficiently manage expectations and prioritize workloads.
Familiarity with video marketing software (e.g Wistia, Vidyard, Frame.io, etc.), CRM software (e.g. Salesforce, Marketo, etc.), workflow software (e.g Asana, Wrike), analytics software (e.g. YouTube Analytics, Bizible, etc.), and video production platforms (e.g Adobe Creative Suite).
Adept at building high-trust relationships that make honest feedback conversations possible. Receives feedback with humility and grace.
Takes ownership of learning within your discipline, and educates stakeholders at every level of the business.
A passion for learning about your audience (our merchants) and how Shopify’s products fulfill their needs, as well as a genuine interest in the commerce space.
Ability to travel >15%
