Job Summary

The Social Media Specialist is responsible for leading and executing Pet Valu’s social media channels by developing, implementing, and reporting on marketing efforts through social media platforms. This position leads growth and community engagement through social media campaigns, influencer/ambassador relationships and related strategies. This position collaborates with cross-functional teams and departments to develop and implement marketing and social media campaigns that will contribute to increase followers’ engagement with our accounts, and drive followers’ base growth. This role will also support the Brand and Marketing Integration teams with additional tasks as necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees day-to-day operations on the brand's social media presence, including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter (and other platforms as they are adopted).
  • Creates consistent, meaningful content on all social media platforms, including social media posts, improving customer engagement, and promoting social media campaigns.
  • Creates and maintains a Social Media Marketing editorial calendar.
  • Develops, edits, proofs and publishes a variety of internal and external content including but not limited to press releases, videos, blogs, websites, social media, and other correspondence.
  • Manages Social media community including monitoring user-generated content, monitoring and activating online influencers and brand enthusiasts.
  • Collaborates with other departments (Customer Service, Sales, etc.) to manage online reputation and resolve customer issues.
  • Routinely reports on, analyzes, and draws insights from all social network activity, following specific KPIs to track and enhance social media performance.
  • Stays up to date on new social media tools, best practices, competitive activity and other social media leaders to bring early adopter technologies and trends to Pet Valu.
  • Supports stores with social media related issues and creative development.
  • Supports requests from the Brand and Integrated Marketing teams
 
Job Requirements
Experience, Education, Certifications:

2 years’ experience in Social Media, Online Community Management or Digital Marketing
Post-secondary education, Marketing preferred
Displays in-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, their respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest etc.) and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios.
Direct experience working with social analytic and listening tools.
Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office products.
Adobe Creative Suite Experience (Preferred).
Knowledge of pet industry an asset
