Job Description
We’re searching for someone with a passion for infusing creativity and storytelling into a dynamic and evolving brand. NorQuest College is transforming to disrupt post-secondary education, so we need a collaborative designer ready to set the tone, appearance, functionality, and overall aesthetic to show what we are, and what we’re becoming. You’ll need to bring your A game, managing multiple projects at one time while continuing to show your strong design chops. We’re all about relationships, so you’ll be working with an incredibly diverse group of people across multiple departments, including other members of our creative team, executive members, front line staff, faculty, students, and external vendors to bring the work to life.

This is an opportunity for you to learn, grow, and be part of a collaborative and creative team. You will be tasked with learning the boundaries of our brand while helping to push the brand into new territories.

You’ll be charged with delivering effective, aesthetic, on-brand, and on-strategy creative content. Digital design brand presence will be your bread and butter, but you’ll also have the opportunity to demonstrate your talent in print publications, advertisements, marketing, and infographics. In short, you will travel the bridge between our print design and digital design, living in both worlds and thriving on the variety of work every day brings.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position supports External Affairs and Brand by performing the following duties:
  • Leads the creation of compelling digital designs and experiences that elevate NorQuest’s brand and visual identity.
  • Contributes to NorQuest’s brand awareness by creating engaging digital graphics/content for web, social media, and other digital platforms.
  • Think creativity and produce engaging designs from concept to final delivery that answers client’s needs and the project’s purpose, while incorporating client and departmental direction and feedback.
  • Design print and digital marketing collateral including advertising campaigns, brochures, and other forms of advertising.
  • Help ensure consistency of brand and creative across print and digital.
  • Translate company culture and values into effective visual communications.
  • Coordinate with external photographers, art directing photoshoots as required.
  • Liaise with external printers and vendors for offset and digital production, proofing, and press-checking to ensure production quality assurance.
  • Monitor developments in the print and digital industry, keeping up to date on the latest creative trends.
  • Embrace challenges and inspire new ways of thinking and approaching design problems.
  • Help maintain our digital filing system for design assets.
  • Work with a wide range of internal clients to creates engaging designs from concept to final delivery that delivers on the client’s needs and the project’s purpose, while incorporating client and departmental direction and feedback
  • Participate in meetings to bring forward creative solutions
  • Work closely with the web team to develop digital designs for our digital platforms
  • Digital Designs:
    • Design and create compelling digital experiences that elevate our brand stories.
    • Create video transition, motion graphics for micro-interactions, and explanatory motion graphics/animations for web and social media.
    • Help ensure all online visual communications are aligned with usability, accessibility, and web standards.
    • Work closely with developers to foster innovation and ensure feasibility and fidelity of final output.
  • Print and Environmental design:
    • Lead the designing of ad campaigns (print and digital), publications, magazines, banners, billboards, outdoor advertising, event materials, signage, and infographics.
    • Produce press-ready artwork for print production for offset and digital production.
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:

2 year diploma in a related field such as Graphic Design.
3-5 years Graphic Design experience with a balance of print and digital.
Extensive experience with Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
Familiarity with HTML and CSS.
Experience with photo editing: expert in retouching, photo manipulation, and composite skills.
Experience in creating animation/motion graphics and storyboard development; Knowledge in Adobe After Effects or other animation software is an asset.
Strong experience with producing press-ready artwork and production requirements.
Strong verbal and written communication and collaborative skills.
Strong relationship building skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills; self-motivated, and able to work on multiple projects with multiple stakeholders.
Strategic problem-solving skills and the capacity to distill complex information into meaningful concepts, ideas, and designs.
Strong attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience working with cross-disciplinary teams.

SALARY: $59,380 – $77,106 commensurate with education and experience. This position is eligible for immediate participation in our comprehensive benefits and pension programs.
