Job Description

BCIT’s School of Computing and Academic Studies is looking for a temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE) Marketing and Communications Coordinator . The Marketing and Communications Coordinator takes a leadership role in supporting the marketing and promotion of all programs and departments within the School of Computing and Academic Studies. In collaboration with the Marketing and Communications (MarComm) department, this position works closely with Program Heads, Coordinators, and Management to write, develop, implement and evaluate marketing materials and strategic communications.


Duties & Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates the promotion of learning and activity spaces at the Downtown campus, including tours for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Works with the Institute Media Relations Manager and the School to coordinate logistics related to school tours.
  • Designs, develops and implements creative concepts, strategies and processes that align with the Institution’s marketing objectives, including proactive recruitment programs and marketing activities.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of products and services; brings forward recommendations and feedback which support the development and implementation of marketing strategies, communication practices and research techniques.
  • Implements marketing initiatives including researching, writing and editing marketing-oriented publications (in print and web formats), materials and correspondence in accordance with the Institute Style Guide.
  • In consultation with the Marketing and Communications department, creates, writes and edits promotional publications (brochures, posters, and advertising material such as electronic and social media).
  • Ensures quality assurance guidelines are met on web development, usability and accessibility.
  • Conducts interviews with stakeholders and clients (internal and external) to support and enhance the marketing and communications planning activities and initiatives.
  • Assists in identifying industry sponsors for student projects and promoting related initiatives.
  • Attends marketing meetings and is responsible for producing agendas and taking minutes.
  • Coordinates, organizes and participates in recruitment activities including information sessions, trade shows, presentations at high schools, and special events.
  • Coordinates logistics and set-up of display booths for career and education fairs, and acts as the School representative.

Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:

Grade 12 completion, plus completion of two years of relevant post-secondary training, e.g., marketing, communications, English.
Two years of related marketing and communication experience.
Must have a significant record of accomplishment in coordinating events with a multitude of stakeholders.
Solid knowledge of and experience with web publishing software (e.g. WordPress), social media platforms, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, content management systems, data analytics, HTML, and Microsoft Office applications.
Experience in the latest computing technologies and/or experience working in a student recruitment environment.
Strategic and tactical planning and excellent organization skills demonstrated through ability to prioritize multiple and changing demands.
Must be extremely resourceful, detail-oriented and have the ability to problem-solve and multi-task.
Must be a team player who promotes a positive and professional work environment.
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
This position is required to work occasionally in the evenings and on weekends. May require travel.
Please note: These are the minimum required qualifications. This position is a dayshift position as defined in Article 14.1 of the Collective Agreement.



Salary Range
Pay Grade 8; $51,594 to $56,088 per annum.

Additional Salary Information
Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment.
