The Role

This is an on site, in-person role. Working closely with the Marketing and Communications team, the Graphic Design Specialist is responsible for creating visual text and imagery for NWP’s digital and print marketing strategies. This position will develop and implement creative content for online campaigns, print ads, websites, and video support as well as digital and hard copy publications. The Graphic Design Specialist will also manage NWP digital advertisement screens and static billboards.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Design and produce NWP publications, including print publications, newsletters, and billboards with strong adherence to the NWP Brand Standards Guide.
  • Design and produce digital advertisements for display on internal and external digital billboards.
  • Work closely with internal and external public relations specialists to design and produce departmental marketing collateral including, but not limited to: brochures, invitations, PowerPoint presentations.
  • Work with a wide range of media and graphic design software including InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop.
  • Establish creative direction for NWP within brand guidelines and provide support to internal and external clients.
  • Manage multiple projects within design specifications and budget restrictions.
  • Determine voice and messaging for graphic design pieces.
  • Create content that conveys accurate messaging for the intended projects.
  • Work with internal and external communications and marketing specialists to understand the social vision of all NWP departments.
  • Create engaging graphics for all social media channels.
  • Monitor externally managed NWP social media channels to ensure consistency in messaging with the NWP Brand Standards Guide.
  • Manage and oversee photo and videography libraries and ensure photos are up to date and meet NWP brand standards.
  • Provide photographic and video advice to support institution events, recognitions, and database updates as required.
  • Edit video and photographic footage as needed for digital and print distribution.
  • Ensure FOIPP guidelines are met.
  • Provide support to Web Content Specialist to maintain an up to date and relative NWP Website.
  • Committee work
  • NWP special event support
  • Interdepartmental support for special events and social.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have a diploma in Graphic Design and 2 years relevant experience.

Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:

proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
strong organizational and multi-tasking skills;
an entrepreneurial spirit, specifically one who is willing to take a risk to create opportunities;
excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
ability to build strong relationships across the organization; and
a high level of integrity, professionalism and accountability.
