Freelance Production Designer

Communications Unit, Corporate and Council Services


Term appointment – Freelance

Compensation, Hourly Rate: (TBC)


The Ontario College of Teachers is looking for an intermediate-senior level freelance production designer to support our Communications Unit. The successful candidate will be available to work between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., and on weekends, if required.


Responsibilities:

As a freelance production designer, you will have hands-on experience with, but not limited to the following areas:


graphic design and studio production
publication layout, advertising and promotions for digital and print
project management

Technical skills:

excellent knowledge in design, type-setting, layout, project management skills
knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and social media
experience working in digital photography, video, offset and digital printing
knowledge and experience working according to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards and W3 WCAG2 web guidelines

Job Requirements
Qualifications:

a minimum of 5-7 years non-profit, agency or freelance graphic design experience
formal education from a recognized graphic design program or related field of study
highly motivated and enthusiastic with a strong interest in communications, marketing, advertising and production
excellent communication and client relations skills
strong oral, presentation and written communication skills
detail oriented with a high standard of quality; results driven
ability to work independently and in a team environment
RGD membership and experience working in French are considered assets.
