Coordinator, Marketing & Communications, Development and Alumni Engagement
UCalgary Alumni within Development and Alumni Engagement is currently recruiting for a Full-time, Limited Term (approximately 18 months) Marketing and Communications Coordinator.
The person in this position will work closely with colleagues in the Marketing and Communications team and report to the Director, Marketing and Communications, Development and Alumni Engagement. This person will be responsible for creating marketing and communications content, using data to measure the effectiveness of these activities and identifying staff and process improvements within the unit. This person has regular interaction other alumni and development communications staff, faculty-based alumni, development and communications staff, and other alumni leaders in the community, faculty and administrative departments at the university, as well as business clients. As a front-line marketing and communications professional, this person will at times serve as a conduit to the alumni and donor community and must represent the Development and Alumni Engagement office with professionalism in the university and the community. This is a fast-moving, results-oriented team focused on creating sincere, valuable relationships between the University of Calgary and our community. As one of many new members of a continually-evolving team, this position will embrace working in a rapidly changing environment, and performing within an environment with a strong sense of accountability and clear project goals. Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
Work with the Director, Alumni Marketing and Communications and other alumni professionals to deliver content that meets alumni interests and supports institutional strategic priorities
Write copy for web, enewsletters, ads, announcements, promotional marketing pieces
Develop compelling content, which includes digital or social content, writing stories or scripts, conducting interviews, working with faculty partners and other alumni staff colleagues to collect stories, program information, cutting edge research, philanthropic endeavors essential to producing best-in-class alumni communications that invokes a sense of pride in UCalgary's
Social media monitoring, back up and support
Draw from industry best practices and actively review best-in-class approaches within post-secondary education in executing vehicles and content that best supports the UCalgary alumni strategic objectives
Manage marketing materials in peripheral spaces
Support other alumni communications projects as opportunities arise
Update and monitor program budgets, manage invoices and prepare expense reports where appropriate
Coordinate print production for Alumni magazine and other print collateral projects
Coordinate all marketing and communications content and deliverables to manage approval process and help identify areas for cross promotion or collaboration
Manage schedules, calendars and provide other meeting support
Provide administrative support to the Director and team members as required, which could include tasks such as office supply management and filing
Manage SWAG inventory
Qualifications / Requirements:
Post-secondary education in public relations, marketing, communications or other relevant subject area and 1-2 years of recent demonstrated experience (experience in post-secondary or community relations is also an asset
Knowledge of marketing and communications planning, budgeting and reporting practices and processes
Demonstrated strong customer service, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills, as well as an ability to exercise good judgment within established guidelines
Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Focused, accountable and results-oriented
Natural sense of curiosity and a keen understanding of meeting customer needs
Open to learning and development and willing to accept new ideas, challenges and assignments
Understanding of, and a passion for, working within a performance management culture
Solid computer and administrative skills
Knowledge of social media strategy and content development is an asset
Experience with a CRM or database is an asset
Sound decision making skills and the ability to work in a team and independently
Experience in a complex organization focused on superior customer service and effective stakeholder relations
