Job Description

We’re looking for a dynamic journalist to cover the personalities and power dynamics driving Canadian politics and be an ambassador for POLITICO’s team in Ottawa. The ideal candidate will have a strong writing voice, a track record of breaking news and be comfortable telling stories through newsletters, articles, video, audio and other platforms to an engaged, influential audience. The reporter will report to our Canada editor and work closely with a team of policy reporters covering Canadian policymaking and U.S.-Canada relations, and will help our readers see around corners and decode the politics behind the policy in areas such as technology, taxes, the federal budget, energy and the environment.

What you’ll do:

  • Break news on political stories
  • Report and write breaking news and enterprise stories
  • Contribute to POLITICO’s Morning Canada, Corridors and other newsletters
  • Write for subscribers and politico.com
  • Identify trends and story lines on your beat
  • Bring and develop sources on your beat
  • Participate in and potentially host events on various platforms for audiences including subscribers
 
Job Requirements
What you’ll need:

Familiarity with the key issues and players in Canada on the political beat
